Green Science Implementation in Herb and Cosmetic Industry
As the
implementation of Green Science, Martha Tilaar Innovation Center (MTIC) has
created concept to be applicatied in PT Martina Berto, Tbk. This concept
devided into 4 phase, included product development from the very first to the
end of its process, called Green
Resources, Green Development, Green Process, and Green Product.
GREEN PROCESS
The third phase
of Green Science concept is green process which prioritize safe, efficient,
waste reduction, resources and energy saving production process. Green Process
consists of safe operational process, production efficiency, waste management,
and environtmental-friendly control.
Safe Operation
An operational
process will considered safe when every process of it will not harm every
worker and provides work protection. To implement this principle, PT Martina
Berto, Tbk follows all provisions on ISO14000, including create Work Health and
Safety Builder Committee (P2KP), and give good concert to food nutrition in
order to keep the employee health. Beside that, every raw ingredient also
identified to make sure its safety by devided into two categories, Poisonous
and Dangerous Material (B3) and non B3, so the handling process will be
adjusted based on chemical material and physical characteristic.
Efficient Production and Waste Reduction
To increase
company efficiency and productivity, PT Martina Berto, Tbk tried to eliminate
process that have no value and doing sustainable improvement. Validation,
evaluation, and research to product process and flows are also regurarly taken
in order to get best result.
The company
also implemented 5R (Ringkas –concise , Rapi –neat, Resik –clean, Rawat –maintain,
and Rajin –diligent ) that can reduce profligacy and to
create comfort working space for employee so they could manage their
productivity and increase safe operation as well.
Energy Saving
Natural
resources or energy management is very important to do so the energy will be
used efficiently. Some of PT Martina Berto, Tbk ways are by utilizing IRAL
(Water Waste Management Installation) output for general needs like plants
watering, car wash and biopori –a water absorping pit dug into the ground, in
accordance with regulation.
Environmental Control
Environmental
control consists of solid, liquid, and B3 waste management, fire danger
handling, transportation management, and lanscaping. Every production process
and company activity also will get through impact assessement to
environment. For this, analytic about
source od the impact and management efforts towards water quality and water
surface downgrade, noise increasing, rain drainage, traffic distruption,
sanitation, security and dicipline.
