Wednesday (23/10), CEO of Martha Tilaar Group, Dr. Kilala Tilaar became a speaker at the fourth session of the Indonesia Industry Outlook 2025 Conference themed Be Agile, Be Relevant: Growing in the Turbulent Beauty Industry. In his session, Dr. Kilala revealed that the condition of the national cosmetics industry is still in a positive growth trend even though signs of weakening purchasing power are starting to appear in the third quarter of 2024.

According to him, national cosmetics continue to experience rapid growth, especially skincare products to perfumes in the last few years. Even since the pandemic, the skincare trend has increased along with the increasing awareness of people to adopt a healthy lifestyle, including caring for their skin, hair, and face.

"This industry is becoming crowded and very competitive, if someone says Red Ocean, this is already Black Ocean because there are so many players," continued Dr. Kilala. Based on data from the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM), the cosmetics industry continues to experience growth. In the period 2010-2019, there were 700 industry players, and by September 2024, there were 1,700 cosmetic business players registered.

The Indonesia Industry Outlook 2025 Conference held by Inventure and Media Indonesia invited 15 industries to present research results for 2025, 15 talk show sessions, and 30 speakers presenting business trends in the coming year. Through this conference, entrepreneurs in various industries not only gain insight into strategies for business success in 2025, but also regarding consumer shifts in the new government era.
