DR. (H.C) Martha Tilaar Featured in the Sunting Exhibition: Traces of Indonesian Women at the National Museum

In order to commemorate Kartini Day, yesterday the National Museum of Indonesia just officially opened the exhibition themed Sunting: Traces of Indonesian Women as Drivers of Change (21/4). The exhibition, which is open to the public until July 2025, was opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony conducted by the Minister of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia, Fadli Zon.

Sunting: Traces of Indonesian Women exhibition at the National Museum is divided into three main zones, namely:
Zone 1: Women, Power, and Resistance, featuring 14 female leaders and fighters.
Zone 2: Women, Movers of History, featuring 29 figures that played a role in the socio-political dynamics of Indonesia.
Zone 3: Women, Builders of Civilization, featuring 53 female figures who have contributed in the fields of education, art, health, diplomacy, and technology.
Not only that, 17 women's organizations are also highlighted as important elements in the collective struggle of Indonesian women throughout the history that are displayed.
 
It is a source of pride for Martha Tilaar Group that our Founder DR. (H.C) Martha Tilaar was chosen as one of the Indonesian women whose 'footprints' were exhibited in zone 3 of the exhibition, along with 52 other female figures who have contributed in the fields of education, art, health, diplomacy, and technology. The memorabilia exhibited are the book Kecantikan Perempuan Timur (Eastern Women’s Beauty) written by DR. (H.C) Martha Tilaar and a replica of the Sariayu cosmetic series first launched by PT Martina Berto Tbk.
 
Appreciating this, Dr. (H.C) Martha Tilaar also attended the opening of the Sunting exhibition with the CEO of Martha Tilaar Group, Dr. Kilala Tilaar. Not only happy to be part of the exhibition that reflects the journey of women's roles in shaping the history, culture, and direction of the nation's future, DR. Martha also met with Kartini's friends at the event, such as Mrs. Pia Alisjahbana, Renitasari Adrian, Amanda Soekasah, and Cynthia Ganesha.

Before the opening ceremony of the exhibition, the event also began with a cultural performance in the form of reading of R.A Kartini's letters presented by the Titimangsa Foundation together with the Bakti Budaya Djarum Foundation. Titled Terbitlah Terang: Membacaan Surat dan Ide Kartini, this performance was beautifully presented by Indonesian celebrities including Happy Salma, Christine Hakim, Maudy Ayunda, Marsha Timothy, Cinta Laura, Lutesha, Chelsea Olivia, Reza Rahardian, and others. This performance was held as a form of respect for the thoughts, struggles, and soul of Raden Ajeng Kartini.
