To See the Excitement of Cap Go Meh Festival in Gombong

Last week, Cap Go Meh Festival was held for two days at House of Martha Tilaar or called Roemah Martha Tilaar (RMT), Gombong, Kebumen, Central Jawa,  on Februari 11-12, 2017. This festival enthusuastucallu attanded by people in Gombong. How fun this Cap Go Meh Festival that claimed as the first and largest festival in birth city of Dr. (H.C) Martha tilaar can be?

As one of its functions, this cultural house was built as a place to develope culture diversity that grow in the society, especially in Gombong, Kebumen. One of the implementations is Cap Go Meh Festival. So many acculturation-based activities are held here in this festival at Roemah Martha Tilaar such as cultural show, taichi, Chinese culinary festival, Mandarin class, photo booth, Beauty Corner, and photo exhibition. Last but not lease is Cap Go Meh Corner, where the visitors can ask anything about Chinese culture, from symbol to Shio.

Based on Sigit Asmodiwongso as the Manager of Roemah Martha Tilaar, during two days festival in Roemah Martha Tilaar attended by at least 1.100 visitors. “Still in holiday and Lunar Year season, the visitors who came are not only from Gombong, but from outside town too like Yogyakarta, Purwokerto, and Jakarta who spare their time to come here,” he says. Their enthusiasm really really bring such ambience, although it was a rainy day, but they still come and excited to know the history of Gombong and Cap Go Meh tradition.

“We hope this Cap Go Meh Festival can be an annual agenda in Gombong. Of course we really appreciate the fact that Gombong people really supportive to this event,” Sigit close this interview session about Cap Go Meh Festival at Roemah Martha Tilaar.
