Gusti Noeroel, The Inspiring Lady

Held at DR. Martha Tilaar's residence in Jakarta, April 16, 2014, “Gusti Noeroel, Mengejar Kebahagiaan” (Gusti Noeroel, Chasing Happiness) has ran smoothly. This 296 pages book that is written by Ully Hermono with direct stylistic tells about all the experiences, thoughts, and Gusti Moeroel's life choices. This books hoped can give more inspirations to every woman, especially Indonesian woman, to have guts to go out of the comfort zone and chasing their happiness.

Who is Gusti Noeroel? Born with full name Gusti Raden Ajeng Siti Noeroel Kamaril Ngasarati Koesoemawardhani, woman who known as Gusti Noeroel is a daughter of a Javanese nobleman., K.G.P.A.A Mangoenagoro VII (1855-1944). Like her daughter, Gusti Noeroel is a modern Javanese princess with one step ahead life style in her era.

Since her teenage life, Gusti Noeroel has already received modernity with an open mind, she loves photography, listening western music, playing tennis, and good at horseback riding. Even so, as a Javanese lady, Gusti Noeroel sticks to her cultural root, wearing kebaya and bun her hair, and learn classical Java dance, she even shown her expertice in dancing to Windmill Country, Netherlands, in front of Queen Wihelmina.

When she was 16 years old, Gusti Noeroel inspired so many other girls. She across the continents to show the world the beauty of Java cultural through classical dance of Java. She then became one of young women who received award as inspiring figure who contribute to introduced Indonesia culture to the world.


One of Indonesia women who always admires her is DR. Martha Tilaar. DR. Martha Tilaar admitted that Gusti Noeroel is an inspiring woman. “Gusti Noeroel is one of figures that can not be separated from Martha Tilaar Group journey. Most of beauty recipes of Martha Tilaar Group came from beauty herbs and treatment from Pura Mangkunagaran that inherited in an hereditary manner from Gusti Noeroel's family and Gusti Putri Mangkoenagoro VIII,” said DR.
