PT Martina Berto Tbk to Receive UN Women 2020 Asia-Pacific WEPs Awards

On Wednesday (18/11), UN Women announced the winners of UN Women 2020 Asia-Pacific Women Empowerment Principles (WEPs) Awards from Indonesia. WEPs Awards is an appreciation that given to the leader of a company or Indonesian companies for their contributions in raising gender equality and women empowerment through 6 categories which are Leadership, Young Leadership, Inclusive-Gender Office, Responsive-Gender Marketplace, Industry & Community Involvement, and COVID-19 Action.

Encouraging women empowerment through a program called Fearless Beauty, PT Martina Berto Tbk was chosen as one of the winners for the Responsive-Gender Marketplace category with other companies, Bukalapak, Amartha, and Ecofrenli. This category is to give recognition to the companies who use gender glasses for all its value chain, from the resource retrieval to the waste, which includes supplier diversity, distribution, inclusive-gender sales, and responsive-gender advertising and marketing. 
 Not only that, but this category also counts the aim to support entrepreneurs, through the rise of market capacity and market access, program execution, and or progressive policy so the business owned by responsive-gender women entrepreneur or company will encourage to participate in the supply chain as the consideration points. 

“Gender equality and women empowerment are very important to strengthen the national economy. The role of the women is the key to promote wealth for everyone,” said Sri Mulyani Indrawati, the Minister of Finance of Indonesia at the opening ceremony. “Congratulations to all the entrepreneurs who believe in gender equality. Not just because of their contribution in encouraging gender equality because it’s a must thing to do, but also for their contribution to the global economy and wealth,” she continued. With her, there were also the Ambassador of the European Union for Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam, H.E. Vincent Piket, and the UN Resident Coordinator for Indonesia, Valerie Julliand who also attended the virtual awarding event.
