Indonesia to Host Intercolor Congress to Set World Color Trend
Bali (22/05) – Some cosmetic, interior design, outomotive, and textile
industries are always waiting for the world color trend to be their
latest inspiration to create innovation. For that, the color trend guide
for the next two years officially annouced by Intercolor as the world
non-profit institution twice a year, for the autumn/summer and
fall/winter season to be exact. The result of color determination
through Intercolor Congress which held twice a year will be used as a
reference in various counties, including Indonesia.
Intercolor is
a platform initiated by international color experts which established
in 1963 and consists of a group of color experts from various
disciplines, representing national associations and consultants working
for global players in the cosmetics, automotive, textile, fashion and
product design industries.
Since Novemver 2018 Indonesai
participated to determine world color trend because officially join the
Intercolor. Indonesia, through Martha Tilaar Innovation Centre (MTIC)
which bring Martha Tilaar Foundation, is officially the 17th member of
Intercolor. The involvement cannot be separated from the role of Martha
Tilaar Innovation Centre (MTIC) lead by Dr. Kilala Tilaar as the CEO of
Martha Tilaar Group to convince the member of Intercolor from 16
countries.
Indonesia has a very large population, namely 270
million people and a high level of diversity including 17,508 islands,
300 ethnic groups and 748 languages. Of course, said Kilala, Indonesia
has extraordinary natural resources which can be a very rich source of
inspiration for world color trends. This is the strength of Indonesia's
influence on world color trends.
Indonesia's joining the
Intercolor organization has had a positive impact on the development of
the Indonesian cosmetics industry. Through MTIC, Indonesian energy is
poured into colorful forms which will be proposed to Intercolor. In the
process of determining world color trends, each country proposes around
3-4 mood boards to develop ideas as derivative themes from the big theme
determined by Intercolor through congress. This May 2024, Indonesia
host the Intercolor Congress which held on the Island of the Gods, Bali,
to discuss the colors of Spring/Summer 2026.
At the Intercolor
Congress, each country is required to present a mood board which is a
concept and color proposal for the next 2 years. Each country usually
presents a mood board containing narrative, deion, visuals and
color examples. All these mood boards are then categorized based on
color groups to be discussed together in groups until a common consensus
is created, both visually and conceptually. The results will be
socialized to be used as a reference in each related industry. Each
country will adjust the color determined by its derivatives.
"With
MTIC's involvement with Intercolor in determining color trends, we hope
to be a place to prove ourselves to the world about the richness of our
diverse nation through colors that inspire globally. Even domestically,
we will embrace organizations, state institutions and other Indonesian
cosmetic companies to be able to build color trends together and
collaborate to explore Indonesian colors to become an inspiration for
the world," explained Dr. Kilala Tilaar.
It is hoped that the
Intercolor Congress which will be held in Bali this time will provide
new insights and knowledge, as well as useful output for all members
which can open up new opportunities and opportunity to collaborate and
work together.
